Or... should I wear this?

Feeling pretty darn sniffly today - I've been feeling off since Saturday night. At least the sore throat is gone - now I just sort of feel congested, tired, and, well, lousy. Hasn't stopped me from going to work (and getting some writing done), but it has stopped me from going to my beloved boot camp. I haven't been since last Friday! I attend a really nice outdoor boot camp - it takes place in a lovely park near the Grove. I love being able to be outside and get some really serious exercise. It always motivates me because I've paid for a chunk of lessons (though they're affordable) and because I like working out (and trying to keep up with) other people. I've met some really cool people through boot camp. The instructor is sweet, and there's no yelling or pressure - just positive feedback and encouragement. I don't think I could take the kind of boot camp where someone is screaming at you the whole time. It just seems like a miserable experience! At this boot camp, you keep up with your classmates, but you can also stop if you need to or go your own pace. It's definitely a hard core workout, and I'm proud of my self every time I finish it. Anyway, I highly recommend Morning Crunch Boot Camp - I give it a coveted 10 on the Awesome Meter. I was able to get in great shape for my wedding, and I've continued to go ever since! The workout varies every day, so it's never boring, and you're always working different muscles. Class meets 2-3 times a day, and you can go to any time slot, which makes it very easy to work into your schedule! It's so satisfying to come home totally invigorated.

The one downside? The workout is outside. Normally, it's great to work out in the park. It's a refreshing change from the gym. However, for the past week, the weather here in LA has been nuts. One day it's 110 degrees, the next, it's cold and rainy. I went all last week, even braving the mega-hot temperatures. Hardly anyone else showed up to work out that day, and they were definitely the smart ones! I felt a little delirious when I got home. Anyway, it's cold and wet today, and since I have the sniffles, I skipped class. I feel a bit guilty, but I'm excited to rest up and get back to it on Friday - it's supposed to be a nice day!

Anyway, I'm still looking forward to my friend's wedding in Boston. I saw this Leifsdottir dress (Summer Twilight) online and fell for it completely, even though I've never tried it on. I caved and bought it online in a size larger than I usually wear, figuring it's always easier to take something in than to let it out; my true size was sold out. We'll see how it works! I was thinking of wearing it to the wedding instead of my other outfit set, but I'm wondering if it's too...well... summery! This is, after all, an October wedding. I made an outfit set to determine how to style it, which includes tights and close-toed shoes in an attempt to cold weather-ify the flowery dress. I like the ruffled cardi with it, but it's gauzy. What do you think? Is this too summery for a fall wedding? Should I go with my initial instinct and wear the Primula dress? In other weird news, my husband doesn't care for the dress because he says it looks like Ed Hardy. Seriously??? Could this delicate silk flowered frock be any further from Ed Hardy-esque?

A note about the earrings here: they're from Silver Lining Decor on Etsy. I love them - they are so delicate and pretty, and they go with everything! I could go on forever about all the great finds I've bought from Etsy. My wedding was particularly Etsy-fied, as I finally had an excuse to buy all the beautiful things I'd always coveted!

  1. What a great outfit set! I love all the pale pink colors in it. And I love those earrings too, I was lucky enough to win them and I wear them all the time too.
